So here is how it works. The site shows you examples of each artists style and work on an iphone case, this gives you a sense of what kind of style you are going to be able to achieve through customization. So once you pick your favorite artist, mine was Ray Frenden, you will start with a completely blank iphone case. You are then presented with a slew of different backgrounds to choose. Once you choose your background for you case the fun really starts.

You are then presented with a ton of different “elements” which are basically pieces created by that artist. From there you pick your favorite elements and start pasting them on your case. You can change both the size and rotation of your image which allows for limitless possibilities.

Last but not least if you are looking for even more customization you can use the “Tools” option which allows you to change colors, and add mirror and kaleidescope effects. If you go through all those options and are still not satisfied with your case you can choose from 3 different premade designs by your favorite artist.

The cases will set you back $34.99 which is basically in the ballpark of what you would pay for a high quality plain iphone case. The printing process actually embeds the ink into the case so that the design will not scratch or abrade with daily use.

Overall I must say I am extremely impressed with concept and the price point of the case. The only drawback I had was the ease of use of designing your case. It was a bit more difficult than what I had hoped for and at times became a bit frustrating. Once you place an “element” you really cant tweak it any further, which can definitely lead to aggravation. The guys over at Case-Mate should really take a page out of The Black Axe’s GetGrossedOut.com site. Those guys really nailed the customization and design process with that site.

I love the concept behind this product, as I am a fan of bacon myself! Who doesn’t love bacon? The envelopes have a bacon pattern on them and even come in packaging resembling that of a real package of bacon. At only $6.99 for a set of 25 envelopes, this is a great price for such an innovative product! My only advice is that they could also branch out and have envelopes without the bacon pattern on them so that there is a little bit more variety and choice.

My favorite product that they produce is their set of Anti-Theft Lunch Bags, never again will your lunch be swiped by a classmate or sneaky co-worker! Basically what you get are 25 plastic sandwich baggies (think Ziplocs) that have moldy green splotches all over them to make your food look…well…green and moldy! The price isn’t too terrible at 10 bucks for a set of 25 sandwich baggies.

Created by Tubbypaws, this Keyboard Cat papercraft is fully functional. After assembling it, you can turn the crank and have its paws move up and down like it’s playing the keyboard! This paper toy has blown me away, and I will surely try to assemble it in the near future. To make a long story short, the owner of the shop was a self proclaimed “outcast” growing up and throughout high school, she felt as I am sure many young women do, that sex would somehow make her more popular and accepted among her peers.  Unfortunately she was wrong and overtime became ashamed of herself and her vagina.  It even became so bad for her that any thought of her vagina would result in a sick feeling in her stomach, feeling dirty, ashamed and useless.  This was until a friend of hers took her to see the show The Vagina Monologues.  It was this experience that helped her feel more confident and proud of who she was.  Looking for away to turn her past into something positive she started VulvaLoveLovelys.  The shop allowed her to express and celebrate herself and the female anatomy.

I think it’s absolutely incredible for someone to take something so negative in their life and turn it into something completely positive, especially when we are talking about something as taboo as a vagina.   Some of the shops items range from pendants, pillows, key chains and even vulva lip balm.  With over 327 satisfied customers the shop seems to be gaining popularity and a strong following.  While these products aren’t for the timid or meek; actually most of these products look about as real as possible; I can definitely see a home for them with many women.

A few items that caught my eye were some of the awesome glycerin novelty soaps that they produce. You can get everything from horror staples like a mini Jason mask, or Leatherface, and even Michael Meyers. (And did you know that the original Michael Meyers mask was created from a William Shatner mask from a Star Trek costume? I think that adds to the creepiness factor…)

Also check out the gross anatomy soaps of the human eyeball and the human heart; you can’t go wrong on Halloween with body parts! You can also suffice your craving for movie monsters by picking up a Creature of the Black Lagoon, Hellboy or even Nosferatu soap! Saving the best for last though I will have to say that Spellbound Soapworks’ version of ”soap on a rope” is quite awesome. Instead of just your traditional rope with said soap attached, they have put a new twist on an old classic, adding a noose for the rope! It’s simple, but clever!

Not only are the soaps very reasonably priced, from about 4 dollars to 7 dollars a soap, most of them can be custom scented as well! They also carry a wide array of bath and body products that range from 2 dollars to 10, from lip balms and glosses to body lotions and scrubs!

Spellbound Soapworks is located out of Indianapolis Indiana and is run by owner Maura and her sister Chris. Every bar of soap that comes out of Spellbound Soapworks is handmade, starting from the hand sculpted molds to the pouring and scenting of the soap, and some are even hand painted! They also attend conventions to show off their spooky soaps so check them out sometime if you are in the area! Just last weekend they attended the Flashback Week-End Convention in Rosemont, IL and they will also be at the Horror Hound Week-End in Cincinnati, OH from November 20th-22nd!
