I’m a bit behind the ball on this one, as Made With Awesome dropped their new tees and new website a few weeks back, but better late then never! MWA is a brand that focuses around fun and well… being awesome! Their latest website now powered by Storenvy.com is very simple and straightforward with a huge concentration directly on the products themselves. My complaint with the store though is their social media buttons are not listed anywhere!

Aside from the new website MWA has also released two new designs called “Easy Speedin” and “Fossils Refueled” both of which are available as tees and prints. As always both designs are pretty clever and well executed and look great both printed on both men’s American Apparel 2001 tees and women’s 2102 tees. Both tees are fairly priced at $24 each and their matching posters at $15.

If your in the market for some light-hearted and clever designs make sure to check these guys out at www.madewithawesome.com

The long awaited RemuseCollective.com has just been launched and from the looks of it, the website has been worth the wait. One of the most important and most skipped parts of presenting a professional looking clothing line is having a proper website, after all this is your storefront! Remuse has done a fantastic job creating a storefront that is inviting, easily navigated and overall visually impressive. This is the type of website that when i visit I want to take some time to stroll around. What I love most about the site is how big the product pictures are on the individual product pages. The large pictures give a real sense of what these tees are all about.

Aside from the great looking new website Remuse has launched six new tees for their “Fall” line. All tees are printed on fashion fit Anvil 980′s instead of American Apparel. To be honest I have never minded Anvil 980′s, granted they are not American Apparel 2001′s but they would never deter me from buying a tee, especially at the $20 price point they are offering.

For me the designs are very solid with my favorites as Daggers and Timebomb. The illustration work on Secret Life, and Fallen From Grace are also very impressive and look great as 1 color prints. But he tee that sticks out the most to me is Architecture and Wind, which really doesn’t match the rest of the line. While I do like the style of the tee I feel like I have seen this done very similarly by Stheart.

Overall Remuse Collective’s launch is very impressive from their website, look book, product shots and designs themselves. Great job coming out of the gates firing!

Check out Remuse at www.remusecollective.com

As always with the brand all the designs are based off various literary works. This line takes inspiration from a ton of different authors/poets, here is the list:

sirens of titan(vonnegut)

the stranger(camus)

catcher in the rye(salinger)

anthem(ayn rand)

brave new world(huxley)

perks of being a wallflower(chbosky)

masque of the red death and silence(poe)

walden(thoreau)

origin of species(darwin)

invisible man(hg wells) *new versions*

bluebird(bukowski) *new versions*

The line has a really nice balance of new items, new versions and even some restocking of previously sold out items. On top of the new tees MTG has added two new 18 x 24 prints which are limited to only 50 pieces, as well as some new belts and totes! The only thing I feel missing from the fall line is some hoods or crew necks! With temperatures starting to drop I would love to rock some sweet MTG hoods!

Running IAMTHETREND I come across new brands everyday, whether it be a tweet, facebook post or direct email. To be perfectly honest I still never know when I click a link if I will be running for the back button or jaw-dropping impressed. With new indie clothing line Maintenance it was definitely the latter of the two.

Professional photos, great looking designs, custom packaging, screen printed tee tags, and solid price points, they have it all. On top of that the boyfriend/girlfriend team of Tara and Kris screen print everything themselves and even designed their website themselves letting them control their brand from point A to Z.

This type of vision and execution does not come overnight, as Tara and Kris have taken two years to carefully plan and execute their game plan. This is definitely something that shows in Maintenance. A lot of brands seem to try and take the fast track approach, which I can understand as I hate waiting, and often get overly excited and just with something. But by taking time and carefully planning your patience tends to pay off.

Alright a bit more about the line. Everything is printed on American Apparel, aside from the girl’s tunics which are printed on super soft Alternative Apparel burnouts. Almost all tees are printed using discharge ink for a soft hand feel as well.

The current line is made up of six different designs and all average for $24.99. Other items include a tote, headband, leggings and cuff all of which round out a solid initial release.

Check them out at www.maintenanceclothing.com

Indie t-shirt line, Science Friction is back and better than ever with their latest website and tee release. I was really digging the couple of designs Science Friction put out awhile back, but the new designs and revamped website just take it all to the next level.

First off, I am absolutely loving the new layout and look to the website. The new logo looks fantastic adorned across the top of the page and the overall color scheme and background photo work really well together. This is a great example of site that isn’t trying to be too flashy but has created a solid site to match their brand.

Aside from the new site, the new tees look extremely solid. This time around Science Friction teamed up with artists Craig Robson, Againstbound, Paul Granese, and Austin Pardun. The new designs fall perfectly into the “Sci-Fi/Universe” look and brand that Science Friction is all about.

All tees are priced at $20 printed on American Apparel and are available now at www.sciencefrictionclothing.com

It’s been awhile since I have been so pumped up for the release of new indie clothing line. I have been absolutely digging the look and vibe of La Muerta since I caught my first glimpse a couple months back.

While La Muerta only has two tees up for sale right now they have just released a pre-order for their new Killer Napkins design “Panda Parts“, which honestly looks incredible. The design is currently set at $25 for pre-order and is printed on American Apparel red with a screen printed inner tee tag.

I am also really digging the overall look of the new lamuerta.mx website. I especially love how much attention is being placed on the artists that are involved in the line. Too many times I feel brands want to keep whom they work with a secret, while sometimes listing an artist might actually result in more sales from fans of their work! The only thing I really didnt dig on the site was the placement of the store button. The store buttons should be an absolutely no brainer to find, but honestly it took me a bit of time to located it along the left side top of the site. Other than that kudos and a job well done. This is how you create a website that fits a branding image and vibe matching your clothing line.

Check out the new site and pre-order at www.lamuerta.mx

The new run features 10 new designs spread across nine tee and one embroidered tank.

The tees as always feature “Fur Face Boy” and all his glory in a variety of parodies including my favorite, “Fur Face Maiden” and a few designs that just look fresh for summer such as “FFB A.B.A.” Also in this line is a new “Mai” t-shirt which shows parody to Snoopy from The Peanuts.

All tees in the line are printed on American Apparel and sell for $29.99. Each tee also come adorned with custom woven tee tag, but are lacking the bottom hem tag which bummed me out a bit.

The new line of tees features six new designs that just reek of awesomeness.

Lead & Light have provided a perfect example that one color ink designs can be just as interesting and appealing, if not more than interesting and appealing than tees using 10 color prints. When it comes right down to it, excellent design is excellent design no matter how many colors, and these new designs simply shine.

Infinite, Fear, and Decline are my favorite of the bunch and are on my must purchase list and should be on your as well, especially at the price tag of $20, printed on American Apparel.

Enter Choonimals and their fresh take on animal based tees. Choonimals have blended both cute and aggressive in a very cool and unique way to form the look of their line. What I also dig is that the designs look like they could have been drawn by a very talented 5th grader. You can tell the designs are done well, but they are far from artistic masterpieces, but that is what works for them.

I just absolutely love it when companies come from literally nowhere and bust on to the scene in a huge way. The latest breakthrough company comes to us from a brand called The Vague Idea. While it does seem like this company appeared out of nowhere, owner Andrew Leff has apparently been hard at work putting this line together for some time now.

Out of the gate the first couple things that I noticed and loved were the Vague Idea logo and website. Both are beautifully done and executed creating a very nice and inviting atmosphere to shop for some tees online. I am also loving how TVI have decided to showcase the artist that have contributed to the line. Often times clothing lines are very secretive about letting out whom has worked on their line, so it was great to see an entire section dedicated to the artist that are apart of the release. And speaking of artists, wow what a line up! From Ray Frenden, Evanimal, Collision Theory, Jeremy Shantz and more this line is chalked with top tier artists.

Of course when you work with the best tee artists in the game it is going to show in your line and believe me it has. While the entire line doesn’t necessarily have a flowing or cohesive feel to it all of the designs are extremely solid. My favorite out of the bunch has to be Jeremy Shantz’s “New World Vulture” which has some amazing colors and looks fantastic against the American Apparel Tri-Blend Coffee tee.

As far as price goes everything is a bit higher than usual running you $33 per tee, but that being said EVERYTHING in this line is printed on American Apparel Tri-Blend tees which are a bit more expensive to use but are completely worth it in comfort.

Overall, The Vague Idea has put together a killer looking first release and I look forward to seeing their future.

Artists Chris Sandlin (aka SockMonkee) is back with his second clothing line release just in time for spring. The new line features four new tees that feature some of Sockmonkee’s best work to date!

Each tee features a different “style” of artwork from typography, photo-realistic and even cartoon inspired design. I usually frown upon offering so many different styles as it doesn’t give a line a very brand specific image but these tees all look so good on their own it’s hard to complain!

My favorite design out of the bunch has to be the “Hold Fast Hope” tee. I am loving the typography and overall design of the tee and for $18 it’s an absolute steal.

All tees are only $18 and are printed on American Apparel using soft-hand inks. At $18 printed on American Apparel these beautiful designs will not last long, so make sure to mosey on over to sockmonkee.bigcartel.com

Also make sure to check out their beautiful look book HERE

This post was written by Germain from Charliegh Co. and originally posted on their blog. So make sure to check out their site, they are also having a HUGE sale right now so drop in their store and check it out!

Below is a quick tutorial on how to remove American Apparel Tags (results may vary depending on which brand you use). Most printing companies do a really good job in removing tags. Unfortunately some shirts get delivered with some seams missing or not attached at all, no worries it happens. A variety of printing companies remove the seams from the shirt entirely (the strings that hold the tag/s) while removing the tags and restitching a complete new seam, which is highly effective and great for larger runs. There’s many options. Choose what works for you best. All of these extra services will affect the turnaround time of your delivery.

If you plan on printing a small run or simply don’t want to pay the extra costs in getting them removed , here’s a way to do so. It will spare you some money and turnaround time. Please note that this will take a bit of practice and there’s probably different techniques of achieving this. This tutorial is based on the way we’ve been removing our tags as of recent for all of our new garments.

There’s a couple of things that you will need before getting started:
1) A pair of scissors
2) Tweezers (not necessary)
3) Patience

Begin by finding the edge of the tag by moving it to the side. The edge of the tag will vary. It can either be on the left side or the right. The more it shows the better.

Once you find it, go ahead and cut the tag very closely to the shirt. Be extra careful. You don’t want to cut the shirt or the seam. Make sure you leave the edge of the tag a bit longer, you will need it to rotate it. This function is very important. In order to be able to move the tag around you have to free up the tension between the shirt and tag that the stitch is providing. By cutting it, you pretty much leave the stitch hanging on to the shirt and not the tag.

This part takes a bit of practice. The edge of the tag should be rotated completely. You’re going to have play around with it a bit. If you can’t get it to rotate completely, more than half will do. The tricky part about this is that you cannot tear any of the thread while trying to rotate the tag. If you pull too hard or fast it will tear. Luckily, there’s enough room for the tag to be rotated, the stitching is fairly sturdy. Be patient, it will rotate.
(Sometimes you won’t even need to rotate it. Once you find the edge and you cut the rest of the tag, you can simpy pull the head of the tag completely out of the shirt.)

As you can see, the inside of the tag is now facing outwards.

Go ahead and cut the remainder of tag once you have it rotated.

You should be left with a bit of string. You can simply pull them out, nothing is really holding them intact anymore.

Some tweezers should help you remove the stubborn ones. And that is it.

(Front)

(Back)

Like stated before, this will take a bit of practice. It works fairly well. Don’t get discouraged if it’s taking a little longer than expected. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll be a tag removing machine.
Hope you found this tutorial helpful.

Picking the perfect blank t-shirt for your brand is an extremely important decision. With so many different options out there, choosing the one to best fit your brand can be an intimidating and difficult decision. Some of the aspects to consider are fabric quality, t-shirt fit, sizing and available colors. Below I will describe each of these things and how they apply to several of the most popular t-shirt blanks.

Alstyle

Quality: Alstyle provides a fairly thick quality t-shirt from many of the reviews I have read. Although from what I have heard, some of their blank models are actually quite soft. They have a wide variety to choose from including 22 types of basic style blanks. The most popular blank models are the 1901 Adult Short Sleeve Tee, 5301 Men’s Fine Jersey Fitted Tee and 1701 Ringspun Tee. The 1901 is a very basic t shirt blank that is 5.5 oz and 100% preshrunk cotton. The 5301 is more of a fashion style t-shirt that is 4.3 oz and 100% combed preshrunk cotton. The 1701 is a softer version of their basic t-shirt which is 5.5 oz and 100% ringspun preshrunk cotton.

Fit: The 1701 and 1901 models have a pretty average fit to them. They are a good option for brands looking to market toward consumers who aren’t too picky on fit. The 5301 has a slimmer fit than their other blanks. This model is a fashion t-shirt and is suitable for brands that want a slimmer fit and more trendy style blank.

Sizing: Alstyle has a pretty wide range of sizes available for all of their blanks. Most of the sizes range from small to double or triple XL. Their shirts are made with preshrunk cotton so that is always one thing to consider. One disadvantage that I spotted was that none of their adult size blanks have an extra small option.

Colors: The available colors for Alstyle blanks are fairly average. Some models offer a wider range of colors than others, but they tend to stay on the dark side. They will cover all of the basics such as black, white and gray without a problem. They do however have some unusual color choices such as mustard and banana that might be appealing to some brands.

Alternative Apparel

Quality: Alternative Apparel has been building a reputation as some of the softest blanks around. They offer the widest variety of blanks, outerwear, pants and accessories of all of the brands mentioned in this article. In their men’s blank t-shirts alone they offer 44 different models and styles. The most popular blanks that you find brands using are the AA1070 Basic Crew and the AA05 Crew Tee. Both models are 100% cotton jersey t-shirts that are very lightweight. The AA1070 would be my choice because it has tear away tags and a slightly larger color selection. Although some of their tees feel very thin, they are the softest and smoothest blanks around.

Fit: The fit of Alternative Apparel blanks can be a little bit misleading at first. When I am looking for new blank samples, I compare the sizes to American Apparel 2001 t-shirts because I know how their size fits me. Alternative Apparel’s size charts have extremely similar dimensions to the American Apparel numbers. I have tried on a few different Alternative Apparel models and this certainly was not the case. The Alternative Apparel shits fit very small and I found myself exchanging them for a larger size. I am a medium in American Apparel and I find a large Alternative Apparel shirt to be a little bit short and snug. In the end though, it all depends on what you prefer for your brand and yourself. One thing that I love about Alternative Apparel blanks are that the sleeves are very form fitting and don’t wing out as much as other blanks.

Sizing: Alternative Apparel has a nice selection of sizes ranging from small to triple XL. Depending on how you prefer your t-shirts to fit, you may want to consider ordering a size up. These blanks are not made with preshrunk cotton and Alternative Apparel recommends that you wash your blanks in cold water to reduce shrinking.

Colors: The AA1070 blank comes with 25 different color options for you to choose from. This is an extremely large amount of colors which is definitely a positive. Alternative Apparel does offer additional color options but many of them are available only on specific style blanks. One thing that I noticed when browsing their color selection was plenty of earth tone and neutral themes.

American Apparel

Quality: American Apparel blanks are known for their exceptional quality. They have just the right amount of thickness that is also extremely soft and comfortable. Although expensive, their blanks have become the go to t-shirt for a majority of independent fashion brands. Their most popular models are the 2001 and the TR401. The 2001 is a fine jersey 100% cotton blank with a slim fit. The TR401is their Tri-Blend blank which is made up of 50% polyester, 25% cotton and 25% rayon. The TR401 is a softer blank but it is thinner than the 2001 and also has less stretch.

Fit: The fit of American Apparel has to be my favorite out of all the blanks in this article. There is a good amount of length in their blanks which is one thing that I love. Many of their models have a slim fit so that is one thing to always consider. The fit of the Tri-Blend model is a little bit smaller than the 2001. I find myself wearing a size larger than my normal size of medium. Again, it all depends on how you prefer your t-shirts to fit. The Tri-Blend blank can sometimes feel a little snug and doesn’t offer much stretch.

Sizing: American Apparel offers a very large range of size for their unisex tees. Most models are available in sizes XXS to 3XL. It is always best to check out the specific sizing charts for each blank model and decide which size if best for you. Models that are not 100% cotton tend to be on the smaller side and may require a size up.

Colors: The American Apparel 2001 offers the widest range of colors that you will find anywhere. Currently there are 47 different color options and they are adding new ones constantly. The Tri-Blend t-shirt only comes in 8 different colors since it is made up of a mixture of materials. So if you are going with American Apparel, chances are they will have a model style that comes in your desired color.

Anvil:

Quality: The only Anvil blank that I have personally dealt with is the 980 model. The 980 is a slimmer, fashion fit model tee. Many people consider the 980 to be the closest alternative to the popular American Apparel 2001. In my opinion, the 980 is a very underrated model in the t-shirt industry. I say this mainly because it is thicker than and just as soft as the 2001 but for a cheaper price. I used the 980 for my first initial Vicious History release and I was extremely satisfied. It is a pre-shrunk 4.5oz 100% combed ring spun cotton t-shirt that also features a tear away label.

Fit: The fit of this t-shirt is also very similar to the 2001 except for a few small differences. The 980 is a little bit shorter in length compared to the 2001 and various other blanks. The thick material provides for a surprisingly soft and comfortable fit. The only downfall that I noticed is that the sleeves tend to wing out a couple of inches although this is different for every body type.

Sizing: The 980 comes in a wide variety of sizes ranging from small to 3XL. They even offer 4XL size tees in certain colors. Since the 980 is made with preshrunk cotton, make sure to order true to size as these shirts will not shrink much.

Colors: The 980 is available in 20 different colors to choose from. They are available in 4XL in white, chocolate, navy, black and heather gray. The available colors are pretty basic and you won’t find many unusual or exotic options.

Gildan

Quality: Gildan is a relatively cheap blank alternative that you see many start up brands using. The popular models are the Heavy Cotton 5000 and the Soft Style 64000. I have only had the chance to try out the heavy cotton model and I have mixed reviews about it. Like the name describes, the t-shirt is relatively thick and rugged. On the other hand, many critics have said that the soft style model is one of the most comfortable tees they have ever worn. The 5000 is a 5.3 oz 100% preshrunk cotton t-shirt. The 64000 is a 4.5 oz 100% preshrunk ring spun cotton t-shirt.

Fit: I have heard many mixed reviews towards the fit of these models. Some people love them while some others dislike their fit for a couple of reasons. Although they are advertised as preshrunk cotton, these shirts have been known to shrink significantly over time. Even fresh out of the box, many people have reported several inconsistencies towards sizing. Many of the same size shirts will have completely different dimensions. From what I have noticed with the 5000 model, the length is pretty average but the sleeves wing out quite a bit. Almost every time I see a brand printing on Gildan, their product shots have the t-shirt sleeves rolled up a few times. It all depends on the style you prefer, but it is something to take into consideration.

Sizing: The 64000 soft style tee comes in sizes small to triple XL while the 5000 heavy cotton comes in sizes extra small to triple XL. Since they are preshrunk cotton tees, it is best to order true to your normal size. Be careful when washing them as they are known to shrink. To reduce the risk of shrinking, wash cold and either dry low or hang dry.

Colors: The 5000 heavy cotton comes in a wide range of 37 different colors. You will find some very unusual and exotic colors in this range such as Heliconia and Sapphire. The 64000 soft style has fewer options but still comes in 27 different colors.

Tultex

Quality: Tultex is another one of those alternative blank brands that are cheaper to print on. They only offer four different unisex models but the 0202 blank is the only one that I have seen used. The 0202 is a 4.5oz 100% ring spun cotton t-shirt with tear away tags. I have a couple Tultex tees in my closet and I must say that I actually like them for the most part. I find them to have a nice fit and be very comfortable at the same time. The only downfall that I notice with this t-shirt is its thinness. The 0202 is probably the thinnest tee out of all the models mentioned in this article. Wearing a white Tultex t-shirt almost feels a little see-through and its thinness is definitely noticeable.

Fit: In my opinion, the Tultex 0202 has one of the nicest fits around. Again, it’s always a matter of opinion and body type when discussing t-shirt fits. You will find that the 0202 has a fairly good length, similar to that of the American Apparel 2001. The sleeves are also very nice as they provide good coverage yet do not wing out like some other brands. One thing that many people complain about when it comes to Tultex is their shrinking inconsistencies. After several washes, Tultex owners have noticed that the fit does not stay intact and the dimensions become warped. The dimensions of every Tultex shirt that I own have stayed in proportion because I wash them cold and then only hang dry them. This is a serious thing to consider for your customers if you decide to go with Tultex. If the fit stayed in proportion more often and they were made a little thicker, Tultex could possibly be one of my favorite blanks.

Sizing: The Tultex 0202 comes in a large amount of sizes ranging from XXS to 3XL. These tees will shrink if you wash them in hot water so you might want to consider ordering a size up. The only way to keep the shirt in its original size is to wash and dry it in the method I described above.

Colors: The 0202 comes in 22 different colors, many of which are pretty basic. Due to the thinness of these tees, you want to be weary of lighter shades because they can feel a little see through.

Rise To Glory is back with their second collection since launching. The new collection picks back up with four more new tees and a brand new flip hat. According to owner Craig Johnson “For this line I tried to think hard about what I wanted to convey with it. I decided that I wanted to show a couple of themes I felt were important to me when I thought of “Rise To Glory. One thing that came to mind was natural selection, or that only the strong survive, so I tried to think of instances in both society and nature that would fit a sort of struggle where one being or animal overpowered another for their benefit or for glory.”

Everything from the new line is printed on American Apparel and is affordably priced at $20 a tee. The new flip hat, which I must say is pretty sick is available for only $15.
