Anyone Remember The Toadies?

I was a huge Toadies fan back when “Rubberneck” hit the scene in 1994, but after that the band all but disappeared and fell off the map. Over the past years they have been touring and have released a few records, but nothing that has ever had the success that they had back with “Rubberneck”.

Kirtland Records just sent me this promo for the upcoming “re-recording” of a record that was rejected by Interscope Records in 1998. Well apparently The Toadies were and still are big fans of these songs, so they decided to re-record all the songs which will be released in early 2011.

Here is the promo vid:

  • I saw them at Lollapalooza in 2008 and they were amazing. They still rock. Had a better show than Lupe Fiasco.

“I was a huge Toadies fan back when “Rubberneck” hit the scene in 1997”

Rubberneck was released on August 23, 1994, but I can forgive that since it was a alternative-radio mainstay.

“but after that the band all but disappeared and fell off the map.”

No thanks to Interscope Records rejecting (which you noted) Feeler in 1998 and not supporting Hell Below/Stars Above when it was released on March 20, 2001. In Aug of 2001 Bassist Lisa Umbarger left the band and Todd Lewis ended the band at that time.

“Over the past years they have been touring and have released a few records…”

They released ONE Studio album since the break-up of 2001. On August 19, 2008 they released their 3rd full length album called 'No Deliverance'.

“Kirtland Records just sent me this promo for the upcoming “re-recording””

Actually the announcement was Tweeted on the bands Twitter account with a link to the promo on their main website. http://www.thetoadies.com

“The Toadies were and still are big fans of these songs, so they decided to re-record all the songs which will be released in early 2011.”

Still more wrong info. They are not re-recording everything that would have made it on Feeler, but I can again forgive you on that since know one but the band knows which songs will make it. Where you got it wrong was they are NOT releasing it in 2011. Feeler will be available for the summer tour which starts July 15, 2010 in Tyler, Texas. Check there website for an official release date in stores. What they also posted was news to follow up ‘Feeler’ with brand new material in 2011. Here is the quote from the bands website. 'Following summer and fall touring, we will re-enter the studio to record a batch of new songs. With a little luck there’ll be another Toadies record out in early 2011.'

    Signed,

    A Gargantuan Toadies Fan

  • Ha! Well thank you for taking me to school on that one! The date was a typo on my end, but I definitely should have done more research on the re-release of Feeler, thanks for clearing that all up! Much appreciated, and I look forward to hearing the new tunes
