Indie clothing upstarts Skummie have just released two brand new tees and a hat that are pretty solid. First tee up is called Viet Zombie, which is a great play on the classic Full Metal Jacket. The illustration on the tee is absolutely top notch and the colors are amazing. I have been told that this is a ten color design, and from looking at it I believe it. The tee is limited to only 50 prints and is available for only $18.
The other tee “Seal of the Skum” features the “Skummie Logo” in a one color design. This is a perfect example of keeping your branding similar yet taking a different stylistic approach to a design and shirt. This tee is also printed on Heather Grey American Apparel Tri-Blend which is one of my all time favorite tees!
Lastly Skummie added their first hat to the line, the Skully Cap for only $13. The hat is a classic trucker hat complete with cloth front and mesh panel back. Artwork on the hat is very solid, but something just seems a bit off to me about it. I think the hat could have possibly benefited from a larger print but overall it looks pretty solid, especially for the $13 price point.
Overall I think this is a very solid mini release and a great example of developing a brand identity but being able to do so with different styles. Price is also very solid on both tees which is a huge plus! I can definitely see metal kids being down with this line, with some proper promotion and some bigger releases I think Skummie could be a solid brand!
